NYCU 2022 vol.06 NYCU Receives Outstanding Achievements in Promoting SDGs and Has Improved Year by Year in the Academic Ranking of World Universities of ShanghaiRanking
Abstract
※ The Sustainable Development and University Social Responsibility (USR) Projects Won Asia Pacific Sustainability Action Awards
Many experts and researchers in National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) implemented sustainable development and USR projects and proposed creative solutions to global sustainability issues. In 2022, two teams from NYCU, “The Making of Hsinchu Living Museum for Social Inclusion and Common Good” and “Tribal Star Incubation Knowledge Construction on the Ground”, won four awards in the Asia Pacific Sustainability Action Awards organized by Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy.

To make teachers and students know more about sustainable development goals, Center for Institutional Research and Data Analytics (CIRDA) held three webinars and one workshop between June and September, and has received positive feedback. This month’s newsletter summarized the topics and key points covered by the webinars and workshop.
※ Latest Information on University Rankings 2022 ShanghaiRanking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities
ShanghaiRanking released its latest edition of Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) on Aug.16th, 2022 and NYCU has improved its position in ARWU year by year.
※ Smart Campus
Research team in CIRDA developed a chatbot, NYCU Campus Little Helper, and the chatbot was used in 2022 freshman orientation to connect incoming college freshmen with important resources on campus. Moreover, NYCU’s Vtuber joined in the orientation ceremony to welcome our incoming students. Hope that the smart campus system can help students engage themselves in NYCU school life successfully!
※ Taiwan Association for Institutional Research Opening Ceremony
2022 marks the 4th year of Taiwan Association for Institutional Research (TAIR) and president Dr. Chi Hung Lin has been elected to be the TAIR’s chairman. On Aug. 24th, president Dr. Lin hosted the opening ceremony and starts the position officially.

Conference on Institutional Research and Sustainable Development Goals & University Social Responsibility will be held by CIRDA in NYCU’s Chiaotung Campus on Oct. 21st, 2022. We would love to see you there!
